So you’re a teacher, which means there’s a high probability that you’re tired, you have no time for a personal life and your well-being is suffering. I get it. It’s almost as though you can feel as though if you’re not giving your entire self to teaching, then you’re not doing it right. And if you do try to pull back a bit because, you know, health and family and all that, you feel guilty that you’re letting people down at work!? It’s such a tough battle.
After 13 years in my teaching career, I had enough of feeling like this. So this past summer I made the decision to delve into the wonderful world of well-being and after many hours of research and experimentation, I realised that there’s so much more to well-being than self-care. Well-being needs to be tailored to your individual needs in order to be successful.
Once I learnt the secrets to achieving well-being as a teacher, I found I was able to get real results because I discovered tactics that move the needle forward FOR ME. Everyone’s idea of well-being is so different so advice from others won’t always cut it.
Many teachers have implemented the techniques I’ve shared in these 7 lessons, and have started to find they are able to not only improve their own well-being but they’re understanding how to support their colleagues and family in their own personal well-being journeys too.
